Designing and Implementing an English Language Assessment Tool


📋 Assignment Description:

Students are asked to design and develop an English language assessment tool (for example: a reading, listening, writing, speaking, or grammar/vocabulary test) that can be used at a certain level of education (elementary, middle, high school, or college).

1. Theoretical Background (1 page)


-  Explanation of the type of assessment chosen (formative/summative, traditional/alternative, etc.).


-  Theoretical Foundation regarding the principles of good and valid English language assessment.


2. Assessment Design


- Assessment objectives (assessment objectives).


- Target students.


- Competencies measured.


- Question format (multiple choice, fill-in-the-blank, essay, performative, etc.).


- Question grid.


- Sample questions (5–10 questions or task instructions, depending on the type of assessment).


- Scoring rubric (if applicable, especially for writing/speaking).



3. Reflection Report (1–2 pages)


- Reflection on the process of designing and (if applicable) implementing the assessment.
